Is your Will up to date?
Posted by admin in Funeral Directors, Legal Services on March 19, 2018
Every person should have a will, only 30% of people in the UK have made a will, a will is where you state how you would like to distribute your property, name an executor, name guardians for children, distribute money and jewellery etc. Having a will also means that you, rather than the state, decide who gets your property when you die. Wills Guildford are typewritten legal documents that are signed and witnessed.
Don’t leave it until it’s too late to get a will drawn up by a probate attorney such as Lodge Brothers legal services.
A legally valid Will, carefully prepared by a qualified expert Solicitor, will ensure that:
- you provide for your loved ones in the way you wish;
- you choose the Executors who will administer your estate;
- you choose the Guardians for your minor children; and
- you can take steps to reduce the Inheritance Tax payable.
You can also choose to appoint Lodge Brothers Legal Services as the Executors of your Will. We will ensure that your estate is dealt with promptly and efficiently so that your loved ones do not have the responsibility but do receive their inheritance as quickly as possible.

Probate Attorney London
When a family member or loved one dies, dealing with estate administration is often the last thing on a person’s mind. We offer an efficient, professional and above all personal service to make your life easier at such a distressing time.
When a person dies leaving a valid Will, the appointed Executors need to apply for a Grant of Probate to administer the Deceased’s estate. If there is no Will, the laws of intestacy apply and the law sets out which family member is entitled to apply for a Grant of Letters of Administration and administer the estate.
The process of administering an estate is commonly known as probate and involves:
- ascertaining the value of the Deceased’s assets and liabilities;
- dealing with the Inland Revenue Inheritance Tax return;
- preparing the probate papers;
- applying to the Probate Registry for the Grant of Probate or Grant of Letters of Administration; and
- collecting in the assets of the estate and settling the liabilities once the Grant is received.
Probate will be required to sell or transfer a house, sell or transfer shares and in most cases to close bank accounts. The assistance required by the Executors will depend on the finances of the Deceased, the terms of the Will, the family circumstances and how much work the Executors are willing or able to do.

Lodge Brothers Remembrance Day Displays
Here we have Cobham branch’s patriotic window display for Remembrance Day, which marked the end of World War I at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month.
Remembrance Day Display at G.Boutell & Son
Linda Bowyer, our Funeral Arranger at G.Boutell in Byfleet, has written a wonderful poem to display in the branch window as part of the Remembrance Day display.
Also featured are excerpts from a book entitled ‘Last Letters Home’ which show the incredible emotion felt by the servicemen that fought for our country during World War I.
Lines of poppies in a row
Easy in the breeze they blow
Soldiers, sailors, and airmen in earth they rest
Their medals clasped tightly to their chest
Winter, summer, autumn and spring
Eternal rest to all, the birds do sing
Flags at half-mast in respect fly
Old comrades in arms, they cry
Remembrance Day, November each and every year
Grateful to those we hold so dear
Eagerly the people stop to bow, low
Time to remember the fallen, tears flow

Lodge Brothers pride themselves not only in offering a professional dedicated funeral services throughout but their involvement in the community is of utmost important to the staff of Lodge Brothers. Lodge Brothers funeral directors Twickenham feel it important to show their support for both young and old within the community. Read what they have been doing recently:
Following on from last year’s The Langley Cup, E.A.Langley recently helped organise a gymnastic display at The City of London Gymnastic Club, Harrow Road, London where all the medals and trophies for the participants were supplied by the Funeral Directors.
The City of London Gymnastics Club holds classes for boys and girls over the age of 3 years old, who attend full time school. The sessions are run by fully qualified BGA coaching staff, and the children take part in displays and enter competitions both internal and external.
Paul Bye, District Manager for E A Langley is married to a former Gymnast and was keen to offer the Children of City of London club the incentive to excel and be recognised for excellence. So, when approached by the club Paul, was only too pleased to supply these medals and trophies.

Lodge Brothers will assist in time of grief

We recently had the unenviable but honoured task of choosing a headstone for a loved one. We wanted it to be a tribute to the person and our way of saying thank you and remembering the special person she was. This was a much more difficult thing to do than we ever anticipated. Fortunately someone recommended Lodge Brothers and much to our relief we went to get their expert advice.
From the moment we walked into their office to making the emotional decision they assisted us professionally and sympathetically. Their range of memorial headstones is quite spectacular, they have something for everyone.
I recommend contacting Lodge Brothers for their advice and assistance with memorials and headstones.
